WWW Wednesday – 6th October

Hey Everyone, I hope you are doing well! I can’t believe that we are already in the middle of the week! Welcome to my WWW Wednesday post for this week. WWW Wednesday’s is hosted by Sam @ Taking on a World of Words, and all it involves is answering three simple easy questions that I always seem to overcomplicate:

What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

I am currently reading Shadow Stained by Rachel Hobbs and am about 50% of the way through it. So far I am enjoying it, but I am a little bit confused by the plot as it was not what I was expecting based off of the synopsis. I much prefer one of the characters than another, but I am intrigued to see how that is going to change as the book continues. You should be seeing my fall thoughts for Shadow Stained on Thursday, so keep a watch out for that.

The book that I most recently finished reading was The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller. While I wouldn’t say that I was disappointed with this book, I was just expecting a lot more from it. I didn’t really like any of the characters, but I don’t think that I was meant to, so for me that just meant that I wasn’t as invested in the story. One thing that I did love was Madeline Miller’s writing style, she has such a lyrical writing style that did keep me engaged throughout the book. I am hoping that I am going to enjoy Circe even more than The Song of Achilles, especially as I don’t know the story as well.

Once I have finished Shadow Stained I plan to pick up The Seventh Cadence by Jim Wilbourne. I was kindly provided a arc copy of The Seventh Cadence by the publisher, so I am looking forward to it. All I know is that it is a new debut adult fantasy series, so I can’t wait to dive in. After that I don’t really have any more set plans, so I will probably just see where my mood takes me.
