WWW Wednesday – 6th October

Hey Everyone, I hope you are doing well! I can’t believe that we are already in the middle of the week! Welcome to my WWW Wednesday post for this week. WWW Wednesday’s is hosted by Sam @ Taking on a World of Words, and all it involves is answering three simple easy questions that I always seem to overcomplicate:

What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

I am currently reading Shadow Stained by Rachel Hobbs and am about 50% of the way through it. So far I am enjoying it, but I am a little bit confused by the plot as it was not what I was expecting based off of the synopsis. I much prefer one of the characters than another, but I am intrigued to see how that is going to change as the book continues. You should be seeing my fall thoughts for Shadow Stained on Thursday, so keep a watch out for that.

The book that I most recently finished reading was The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller. While I wouldn’t say that I was disappointed with this book, I was just expecting a lot more from it. I didn’t really like any of the characters, but I don’t think that I was meant to, so for me that just meant that I wasn’t as invested in the story. One thing that I did love was Madeline Miller’s writing style, she has such a lyrical writing style that did keep me engaged throughout the book. I am hoping that I am going to enjoy Circe even more than The Song of Achilles, especially as I don’t know the story as well.

Once I have finished Shadow Stained I plan to pick up The Seventh Cadence by Jim Wilbourne. I was kindly provided a arc copy of The Seventh Cadence by the publisher, so I am looking forward to it. All I know is that it is a new debut adult fantasy series, so I can’t wait to dive in. After that I don’t really have any more set plans, so I will probably just see where my mood takes me.

Top Ten Tuesday – Bookish Pet Peeves

Hey guys, it’s Tuesday again so it means it’s time for Top Ten Tuesday. Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme that is hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s topic is ten of my bookish pet peeves!

Going into this list I didn’t think that I had that many, but as I started writing I remembered so many other little things that bother me. I’ve tried not to go too serious with this topic and have tried to keep it to ones that we can all relate too.

September Wrap Up

September was a little bit of a strange reading month for me, as although I read quite a few books in the month I almost felt as if I was in a reading slump. Quite a few of the books took a while for me to get into them which I think contributed to this, as even though I was reading several pages the story wasn’t really moving.

Fingers crossed this feeling will go away as we head into October, as I have lots of spooky books planned. But first here is my wrap up of all the books that I read in September.

Let’s Talk Bookish – Series vs Standalones

Hi everyone, I hope you are all doing well! As it is once again Friday, it is time for another Let’s Talk Bookish edition. Let’s Talk Bookish is a weekly meme hosted by Rukky @ Eternity Books and Dani @ Literary Lion. This weeks topic is the age old argument series vs standalones!

Series vs Standalones is an debate that is always going around and there is never a consensus on the answer. I think it is one of those questions that really depends on the mood that you are in and what you are reading.

Top Ten Tuesday – Series That Intimidate Me

Hey guys, it’s Tuesday again so it means it’s time for Top Ten Tuesday. Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme that is hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s topic was a freebie, so I have decided to go with ten series that I find intimidating!

There are quite a few series that I find intimidating mainly because of their size or the sheer number of books in the series.

October TBR

I can’t believe that we are already in October, where has the year. September was quite a good reading month for me, so I am hoping to carry it into October. I am back to University in October so I have not been to ambitious with my TBR for October, but there are still a couple of spooky books that I want to get in.

So without further ado, here is my TBR for October!
