Let’s Talk Bookish – Pets and Books

Hi everyone, I hope you are all doing well! As it is once again Friday, it is time for another Let’s Talk Bookish edition. Let’s Talk Bookish is a weekly meme hosted by Rukky @ Eternity Books and Dani @ Literary Lion. This weeks topic is about pets and books, two things that don’t tend to mix well!

This is definitely something that I worry about as we currently have two family dogs (Yoshi and Lola, who are both Shih Tzu’s) who like to cause some trouble. We also have as a family had a house rabbit (called Jazz) who did like to take an interest in books.

Having physical books can be fantastic, but it can also be scary to have them damaged! What have you experienced with pets and your books?

I have not personally had any of my books severely damaged by my pets, except them maybe standing on them, thankfully not with muddy paws. But I know when we had a rabbit chewed a couple of the spines of my parents’ books as they were exactly at his height. Thankfully I don’t think that he did too much damage, but that is one of the problems of having pets.

How do you protect your books from destruction?

To protect my books from destruction, I keep them at a height that my troublesome pets cannot reach, as thankfully, they are only small. I also make sure not to put any of my exclusive books at the bottom of my bookcases as they are more likely to get damaged, even by me, when they are lower. But sometimes accidents do happen, and it is not the end of the world; after all, they are only books. And the memories with my pets are more important.

Sorry, this is a bit of a short one today, but I didn’t really think there was much to say on the topic.
