Let’s Talk Bookish – Qualities of a Book Boyfriend/Girlfriend?

Hi everyone, I hope you are all doing well! As it is once again Friday, it is time for another Let’s Talk Bookish edition. Let’s Talk Bookish is a weekly meme hosted by Rukky @ Eternity Books and Dani @ Literary Lion. This weeks topic is all about qualities of a book boyfriend/girlfriend.

Do you have any book boyfriends/girlfriends?

I always have a range of book boyfriends at any given time, but it does depend on the books that I have read recently. The majority of the time the “relationship” will go after a couple of months unless I am waiting on a new release in the series. At the moment, I don’t have as many as normal; the book boyfriends that I have are Casteel De’Neer from the From Blood and Ash series, Rhysand from A Court of Thorns and Roses.

What makes you fall in love with them?

The majority of the time, it is their personality that influences my decisions. It is also how they treat their respective love interests in the book which makes me fall in love with them. It is also how they look, as you can probably notice that I have a type, but I always find it hard to distinguish what characters look like, so it all depends on the fanart that I stumble on.

Is there anything all your favorite book boyfriends/girlfriends have in common?

They have a lot in common as it seems that I have a type for my book boyfriends. I also think it is influenced by the types of books that I read as they tend to be the archetype of the male love interest. They are both the tall, dark and brooding type which does make me laugh.

Do you prefer they come from certain genres?

Almost all of the book boyfriends that I have had come from the fantasy genre and most of them have come from fantasy romance. I wouldn’t say that this is where I prefer they come from, but this is just the genre that most of my reading comes from, so, naturally, this is where my book boyfriends come from. I also think that most love interests within the fantasy romance genre fit the type that I seem to have.

Do you have book boyfriends/girlfriends? Who is your current favourite? Let me know in the comments below!

  1. Rhysand! 💖 I completely agree with your point of how they treat their partner being something that makes you fall in love with them. I haven’t gotten a chance to read the From Blood and Ash series yet but I’ve heard great things and now I must discover who Casteel is! 👀
