Hi everyone, I hope you are all doing well! As it is once again Friday, it is time for another Let’s Talk Bookish edition. Let’s Talk Bookish is a weekly meme hosted by Rukky @ Eternity Books and Dani @ Literary Lion. Sorry I missed last week, University got on top of me but I am back now! This weeks topic is all about putting off books you actually want to read.
I have so many anticipated books each year that I always end up delaying some of them. I find it always depends on my priorities each month and whether I have the time to truly enjoy them.
Do you ever put off the books you actually want to be reading?
Occasionally I will put off the books that I really want to read. It’s normally down to time; as for some books, I like to dedicate time when I know that I am only going to be focused on them rather than a million different things. I will also put them off if they end a series that I love and don’t want to end.
What do you end up reading instead?
If it is down to time, I will typically end up reading some of the ARCS that I have not got on top of or books for book tours. If I am putting it off because I am trying to savour it, I will generally pick up something entirely different from the book that I am putting off, so if it is a fantasy, I will normally pick up a contemporary or romance.
Why do you put off the books that you would rather read for other stories?
As I said earlier, the majority of the time, it will be down to time. I do have quite a busy life, so trying to fit everything in can be quite a struggle. Also, quite a few times, many of my anticipated releases will be released on the same day, so I do have to pick which one I want to prioritise.
Do you treat reading books you’re excited as a reward?
I try not to read an anticipated book as a reward as then it takes the fun out of it. But if I feel that I am going to go into a reading slump, I try and read something that will keep me out of it.
Do you ever put off reading books that you are excited about? Let me know in the comments below!
Sometimes I put off books I’m excited for if I’m having a busy week because I know that if I start them, I won’t get anything done

For me I often put off books because I have high expectations haha, and I’m afraid the book won’t meet them!

I always do this!! Most of the time its because I don’t have the time to read it.

This is a yes and no for me. Most of the books on my shelves are my tbr, so I want to read all of them, but I can’t read them all at the same time so I have to prioritize. Although, I do sometimes purposely put some off depending on any book clubs and other “obligations” I have that month (like prompts for readathons and what not). But I don’t do arcs (I can’t commit) and I don’t have school with required reading, so I basically just read what I want whenever I want lol
