Hey guys, it’s Tuesday again so it means it’s time for Top Ten Tuesday. Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme that is hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s topic is a spring cleaning freebie, and I have decided to focus on ten books that I really need to get round to unhauling!
P.S. I Still Love You and Always and Forever, Lara Jean by Jenny Han

I read to All the Boys I’ve Loved Before earlier in 2021, and while I liked it, I can’t see myself being able to get round to getting through the other two in the series. I did start P.S. I Still Love You but I found myself getting more and more annoyed with the characters and the decisions that they were making. I will probably just end up watching the films on Netflix to find out how Lara Jean and Peter’s story ends.
The Selection by Kiera Cass

I brought the The Selection series when it was first released as I thought it would be a series that I would love. I didn’t ever get round to them when I first brought them and I don’t think that if I were to read them now I would enjoy them. From the reviews that I have read they seem a little bit predictable and don’t have the kind of story that I enjoy. So I plan to unhaul these so they can find a home with someone who will enjoy them.
This Mortal Coil by Emily Suvada

This Mortal Coil sounded like a concept that I was going to love heading into it, but I just didn’t. I didn’t like the execution of the story and found that while it sounded amazing it felt very boring. I also didn’t enjoy the characters and found them to be very annoying at moments. So I will be unhauling this book as I don’t ever think that I will ever reread it.
Murder Most Unladylike by Robin Stevens

I read Murder Most Unladylike as part of Middle Grade Monthly in 2020 and I really didn’t enjoy my time reading it. It was one of only two star reads I had in 2020, which I think sums up my opinions on the book. I didn’t connect with the book and found some of the characters behaviour questionable which I don’t think that the story needed.
I Was Born for This by Alice Oseman

I wanted to enjoy I Was Born for This as it sounded like a contemporary that I would love. Especially as it is set around bands and fangirls. But I didn’t end up connecting with the writing and characters which left me disappointed. I think that it will be the book for someone but just not me.
The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin

I think I was a little bit late to reading this book as I am sure that if I read it when I was a little bit younger I would have loved it. But I now have a quite a few books that I can compare it to and I don’t think it compares to them. I found there to be quite a few plot holes which annoyed me and kept pulling me out of the story. So I will be unhauling it so it can find a better home.
Restore Me, Defy Me and Imagine Me by Taherah Mafi

To put some books from the Shatter Me series on this list breaks my heart, but it is only the second trilogy. I love the first trilogy and will be keeping them, but I wish that this second trilogy does not exist. I feel that quite a bit of the character development was undone in this series and it really annoyed me. I have actually DNFed this series without reading the final book because it was annoying me so much.
There you have it for this weeks Top Ten Tuesday, next weeks topic is books on my spring TBR and I am looking forward to it.
I’m pretty sure it was that dress on the cover of The Selection that made me hit the buy button, but I’ve never gotten around to reading it either. Still, it looks pretty on the shelf…

I unhauled This Mortal Coil too! I didn’t read it but every time I thought it would be a book I’d want to pick up, I’d change my mind. So out it went! haha Happy reading 🙂

I haven’t read any of these, although I do have THE SELECTION. I bought it when it first came out because it sounded so good, but I still haven’t gotten around to reading it. Maybe someday. Maybe not. Who knows? LOL.
Happy TTT!

I had some interest in reading a few of these but after seeing very mixed (and also pretty bad) reviews for some of them, I decided to boot them off my TBR and let the FOMO die too 🤣 Annoying characters who make nonsensical or irritating decisions are absolutely the worst!
