Hey guys, it’s Tuesday again so it means it’s time for Top Ten Tuesday. Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme that is hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s topic is a Valentine’s Day/Love freebie, so I have decided to go with some of my top fictional couples from the books that I read in 2020.
Feyre and Rhysand from A Court of Thorns and Roses

Feyre and Rhysand were the original Sarah J. Maas couple that I read, and they are the two that stick with me the most. In the latest book in the series, I hope that we get to see more of their relationship develop as they become older and go through more life milestones. I love the love that they have for each other and the devotion that they have.
Lou and Reid from Serpent and Dove

Lou and Reid were a couple that I was not completely sold on at the start of the book, but I quickly grew to love their dynamic the later in the first book I got. I am yet to read the sequel, so I’m not sure where their dynamic goes in that. I love the enemies-to-lovers element of their relationship and their dynamic, even though only one of them knows that they are enemies.
Paige and Warden from The Bone Season

Paige and Warden are a couple that we have not seen a significant amount from, but what I have seen I have loved. Paige is demisexual, so it is great to see that represented on the page. I hope that we get even more of their relationship within The Mask Falling and some cute moments between them, but I don’t have much hope as I know how much Samantha Shannon loves to torture us.
Audrey Rose and Thomas from Stalking Jack the Ripper

Audrey and Thomas’s relationship is one that I don’t see a lot in fantasy books, so finding in it Stalking Jack the Ripper was great. Thomas has a vibe of I hate everyone apart from you, which compliments the stories that are being told in the series. The confidence that they have in each other and their abilities is something that I love, especially considering the series’s historical setting. I only have the final book left in the series, so I can’t wait to see where they are going to go, and if any big life moments will happen.
Alex and Henry from Red, White and Royal Blue

Red, White and Royal Blue was one of my stand out books of 2020, which is purely based on the romance. Alex and Henry wormed their way into my heart, and they have stayed there. I loved the dynamic between them and how they interacted with each other in different situations. I would love a follow-up book to see where they are now and what they have been doing since.
Jack and Bitty from Check Please

I wasn’t sure what to expect heading into Check Please as I know nothing about Ice Hockey, but Jack and Bitty’s relationship meant that that didn’t really matter. They had such an adorable relationship, and they were so supportive of each other no matter what the other was going through. The series ends when you know where their lives are going to go in the future, which makes it even better.
Juliette and Roma from These Violent Delights

Everyone has heard me rave about These Violent Delights, and I will carry on until everyone has read it. One of my stand out elements of the book was the relationship between Juliette and Roma. They have the dynamic that I love best in my books, and Chloe Gong executed it so well. Their enemies-to-lovers relationship is played out so well, and they have undeniable chemistry. I am slightly worried as to what is going to happen to them in the sequel as These Violent Delights is a Romeo and Juliet retelling, and we all know how that story ends.
Yadriel and Julian from Cemetery Boys

Yadriel and Julian are a late addition to this list, but they thoroughly deserve their spot. The dynamic between these was what sold the book to me in the end. They start off not getting on, but you see their devotion by the end of the book. I can’t go any further without giving spoilers, but I highly recommend picking this book up.
Nick and Charlie from Heartstopper

Nick and Charlie just have the most heartwarming relationship, and I love seeing it develop throughout the Heartstopper comics. The way they support each other is fantastic, and I can’t wait to see what is in store for them in future instalments. I have read the Nick and Charlie novella, so I do know that there are challenging roads ahead of them, but hopefully, they will pull through.
Nik and Hanna from Gemina

I could have put any of the couples from the Illuminae files on this list, but I decided to go with Nik and Hanna. I love the relationship that they have and how you see it develops throughout the book. The banter that they have enhanced the book and made me enjoy it even more.
I have to say that I think my favorite book couple is Feyre and Rhysand! I also really love Poppy and Casteel thoughπ I really need to continue reading the SJTR series as I really enjoyed the first book. Great post! Loved the topic!!

I really ought to read The Bone Season sometime. I’m demisexual and haven’t read any books about people like me. π

I adore The Bone Season and love the representation within it. It was the first time I had seen demisexuality represented on the page, which was amazing π

Audrey Rose and Thomas are super cute. There are definitely more Paige and Warden moments in The Mask Falling than there have been in previous books, so you should have a lot to look forward to.

I enjoyed reading the Stalking Jack the Ripper series. It wasn’t what I expected when I started, especially because it is purely historical fiction. But it is definitely worth giving a go π

The Illuminae series was the first ever mixed-media series that I have read. It took me a little bit of time to get used to them, but once I did I fell in love with them! π
