Without further ado, here are my answers to the Never Have I Ever book tag.

Never have I ever … read a later book in a series before reading the first book

I have never done this! I am a stickler for reading everything in order. The only time that I would do it is if they were companion novels, and the first didn’t interest me.

Never have I ever … burned a book

I have never burned any of my books. I would hate to burn any book, even if I absolutely hated it, I would just donate it so it could find a new home.

Never have I ever … read a book I knew I would hate

The only book that I’ve read that I knew I would hate was The Woman in Black in secondary school. I hate anything spooky, so I knew that this would not be the book for me.

Never have I ever … written a fanfiction about my favourite book

I have not ever written fanfiction about my favourite books/characters. This is mainly because I am terrible at writing creative stories, so if I did it would probably be terrible.

Never have I ever … loved a book when I was young, yet hated it when I got older

The only book/series that springs to mind is the Red Queen series. When I initially read it, I absolutely loved it, but looking back on it now I just got swooped up in all the hype. I also think if I were to re-read the Beautiful Creatures series, I would not like it now.

Never have I ever … dressed up as one of my favourite literary characters

Sadly I have never dressed up as my favourite literary character, but I hope to in the future. Sadly Halloween this year has been cancelled, but I did have some costume plans. Hopefully, I can bring my outfit out next year.

Never have I ever … Hated a book by an author I love

I don’t think that I have hated a book by an author that I love. I have hated the ending to a series that I have been enjoying, but I don’t think that I have specifically hated a book.

Never have I ever … gone into a bookstore too buy one book and come out with many more

I always go into a bookstore thinking that I only want one book but end up coming out with several. I can never stop myself when I see something that intrigues me. Some of my best reads have come when I have brought them on a whim.

Never have I ever … read the ending of a book before reading the beginning

I am glad to say that I have never read the ending of a book before the beginning. That would probably be one of my worse nightmares. I also try to avoid spoilers before I have read the book, but sometimes that is not possible, especially if I am late to the hype.

Never have I ever … read a book without a dust cover

I don’t know whether I am strange, but I always read my hardcovers with the dust jackets off. I find the book easier to grip with the dust jackets off, plus I would be likely to rip the dust jackets if I had them on when reading.

Never have I ever … skim read nearly half a book

I think in school I probably skim read half a book, mainly because I was never interested in the genres and books that were chosen. When reading something that I am interested in, I don’t skim read.

Never have I ever … pretended to read a book that I haven’t

I haven’t ever pretended to read a book that I haven’t before.

Never have I ever … seen the movie before the book

I definitely have, but only for books that I have no interest in reading. For example, I have seen the Twilight movies because I have no interest in the books. Majority of the time, I will try and read the book before I see the film because I always want to see what was originally intended.

Never have I ever … had a book boyfriend

I always have book boyfriends, but I don’t think that any of them would ever go for me though.

My additional prompt: Never have I ever … had a book on my owned TBR for more than 3 years

I have loads of books on my TBR that I have had for over 3 years; the majority of them are either high fantasy or cover buys.

  1. This is such a fun tag.

Never have I ever … Hated a book by an author I love. Really? I read The Casual Vacancy by J.K.Rowling with so much hope and it turned out to be such a bummer! Similarly I loved Charles Dickens while growing up but David Copperfield was unbearable.

Never have I ever … read a book without a dust cover. – I totally agree dust covers more or less end up getting ripped while I’m reading the book. So I prefer reading the book without them.

Never have I ever … had a book boyfriend. – Mr.Darcy – first book boyfriend. And Sirius Black ❤
